My collegue and I had heated discussion on what to have as a OS in our organisation and as such we being developers of LAMP based technologies I discussed in favour of Linux and my collegue was in favour of Windows as his primary OS because he developed AMP applications using WAMP stack.
Our argument led to the level of why Windows development apps should not run in Linux. I started googling and was lucky enough to have a good information from Linux Magazine which said :
The Mono project has brought support for Microsoft’s .NET framework (which they are using to try to kill Java and dominate the programming space) to Linux. As a result, we are now seeing more free software applications written in various .NET languages like C#. How do we reconcile using and integrating proprietary platforms with pushing freedom from vendor lock-in? How do we make sure that we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot, long term?
